synerG, under the umbrella of Action Greensboro, is an active organization of young adults who lead initiatives with the mission to attract, engage and connect Young Professionals to Greensboro, North Carolina.

Through our projects, synerG promotes social and professional networking, leadership opportunities and serves as a clearinghouse for information for young adults in the 21-39 year-old age demographic.

synerG values the creation of opportunities and atmospheres that promote connectedness, diversity/inclusiveness and accessibility.

synerG Council, a group of 20+ young professionals from Greensboro, with representation from each of the affiliate groups as well as at-large members, meets regularly to provide oversight and direction to efforts of synerG. Cecelia Thompson and John Martin serve as Co-Chairs of the synerG Council.

Previous projects and accomplishments of synerG include

  • CenterG in the Park: In July 2006, with a $12,000 start-up grant from the Future Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, synerG engaged IT Training & Solutions, Inc. and Time Warner Cable Business Class to install wireless fidelity ("Wi-Fi") capability in Greensboro’s Center City Park. The Wi-Fi Committee was chaired by Amy Lytle, and Brendan Messenheimer served as Project Director.
  • CenterG on South Elm: In April 2006, in partnership with GoTriad.com and Time Warner Cable, synerG launched free Wi-Fi on South Elm Street. This service is available along South Elm Street from February One Street to McGee Street, mainly outdoors with limited availability within some of the businesses along the route.
  • Holiday synerG: On December 3, 2005, synerG in partnership with the Carolina Theatre, hosted Holiday synerG, an evening of networking, food, and entertainment provided by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at the historic Carolina Theatre.
