Welcome Packet
Greetings from synerG! We are pleased to give you the following introduction to Greensboro.
Our community is a great place for people of any age to live, and certainly for young adults. Greensboro is centrally located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, served by four interstate highways (soon to be six) and an international airport. We are located 2-3 hours from the mountains and 3-4 hours from the coastal beaches. Our climate is comfortable year-round while still having four distinct seasons. The city of Greensboro, which is 200 years old this year, is the site of one of the pivotal battles of the American Revolution. We are home to 2 state universities, 3 colleges, 1 law school and one of the top community colleges in the state and have one of the best park systems in the South.
Greensboro has a very diverse population, with over 100 languages and dialects spoken by students in our public school system, Guilford County Schools. We are a city where it is quite easy to get involved in civic life, and we welcome newcomers.
Our group, synerG, is under the umbrella of Action Greensboro, and serves as an active organization of young adults leading initiatives with the mission to attract, engage and connect Young Professionals to Greensboro, North Carolina. Through our projects, we promote social and professional networking, leadership opportunities and serves as a clearinghouse for information for young adults in the 21-39 year-old age demographic. We value the creation of opportunities and atmospheres that promote connectedness, diversity/inclusiveness and accessibility. Please see the next page for more specific information on our initiatives.
synerG represents a diverse group of young leaders representing a wide variety of organizations that focus on the arts, community service, philanthropy, and recreation. Members are employed by educational institutions, local government, large and small businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
